EHC heat retention radiators use patented Magmatic ceramic tablets to store heat directly inside the radiator body, then continue releasing that warmth for up to 45 minutes after the element switches off. Because the tablets hold their charge, the radiator typically only draws power for around 20 minutes in every hour, cutting running costs compared with a standard convector that reheats from cold continuously.

German-engineered and built with a surface area up to six times greater than a typical panel radiator, these units split heat output as 50% radiant and 50% convected for even warmth across the room. Every model ships with an onboard DSR controller for manual time and temperature control, with an optional smart gateway adding Wi-Fi, app, and Alexa control. Available in a compact Standard range and a slimline Tall Vertical range for narrow spaces such as hallways.

How Heat Retention Differs From Storage Heaters

Unlike old-style night storage heaters, EHC DSR radiators do not need to charge overnight on cheap-rate electricity. They store heat only while running during the day and release it gradually, so there is no wasted energy warming an empty room overnight and no separate off-peak electrical circuit to install.

App and Alexa Control Needs the Optional Gateway

Every radiator can be run manually from the onboard DSR controller straight out of the box. Wi-Fi app scheduling, geo-location, energy usage statistics, and Amazon Alexa voice control all require the separately purchased EHC Smart App Gateway, which is not included with the radiator.

Magmatic Ceramic Tablets

Patented ceramic tablets absorb and store heat directly, continuing to radiate warmth for up to 45 minutes after the element has switched off.

DSR Onboard Controller

A side-mounted digital controller gives full manual control over time and temperature, with a 7-day programmer, three temperature levels, and a keypad lock.

Silent, Vibration-Free Operation

With no fluid or pump and no expansion or contraction noise, these radiators run silently, day or night.

Large Radiant Surface

Increased surface area of up to six times a typical radiator spreads the 50% radiant, 50% convected heat evenly across the room rather than concentrating it near the unit.

Flexible Installation

A wall-mounting kit is included as standard, with optional feet or castors available for free-standing use in rentals, holiday lets, or rooms where drilling isn’t possible.

Built-In Safety Protection

Heat-shrink insulated contacts and multiple overheat thermocouples protect against electrical faults and excessive surface temperatures.

How is a heat retention radiator different from a night storage heater?

Night storage heaters charge overnight on off-peak electricity and release that heat during the day, needing two electrical connections and a convection boost to keep going once the charge runs out. EHC heat retention radiators only use electricity while running during the day, storing heat in Magmatic tablets for short bursts and releasing it for up to 45 minutes with no further power draw, so no overnight charging or second electrical supply is needed.

Do I need the Smart Gateway to use this radiator?

No. The onboard DSR controller gives full manual control over time and temperature straight away. The Smart App Gateway is an optional extra that adds Wi-Fi app control, geo-location scheduling, energy usage statistics, and Amazon Alexa voice control.

How much electricity does the radiator use per hour?

Depending on the building’s insulation and the outside temperature, the radiator typically only draws power for around 20 minutes of every hour, with the Magmatic tablets supplying the remaining heat.

What size radiator do I need for my room?

As a guide, the 800W model suits rooms up to around 8m², rising through the range to the 2400W model for rooms up to around 24m². Room size, insulation, and ceiling height will all affect the ideal wattage, so use our BTU calculator if you’re unsure.

Can this radiator be free-standing instead of wall-mounted?

Yes. A wall-mounting kit is included as standard, and optional feet or castors are available separately for free-standing use, which suits rentals, holiday lets, or rooms where drilling into the wall isn’t practical.
